The Wood Badge is made up of two wooden beads worn at the end of a leather lace. It has been awarded to adult volunteers since 1919. Its design took inspiration from a necklace bought back from Africa by Scouting’s Founder, Robert Baden-Powell, when he was serving in the British Army in 1888.
Charles Elderton, Group Chair and Trustee, said “With time for all of us is at such a premium it is a privilege and an inspiration to see how much commitment and energy is offered by so many of our volunteers to make the 43rd such a special Group. Wow, what a team we have.”
