Well perhaps not literally but they had a great time fossil hunting in Aust. Finds included fish and reptile bones from the Triassic period (250million years ago), fossil shells from the Carboniferous period (300-360 million years ago) and sharks teeth ! The Scouts hiked from the hut to the Downs via Bishop’s Knoll then we invested our 9 shiny new Scouts !
The Scouts had a cracking hike from Ashton Court to the 43rd Hut in beautiful autumn weather. It was great to meet face to face for the first time since March.
In preparation for our tree sale, the Scouts bravely slept in the hut the night before. Much pizza was eaten, they watched a film and some even got some sleep ! The Scouts have been busy this term – athletics, cooking, hiking and climbing !
The Scouts had a wonderful trip up Pen Y Fan in cracking autumn sunshine and a fair amount of wind. It was a challenge to some and there were tired legs at the end but they all got a lot out of it.
The Underfall Yard on Bristol’s floating harbour is a hidden gem. The Scouts had a wonderfully informative tour, big thanks to Andy, our guide.
Our new Assistant Leader organised a wonderful picnic and games on the Downs on a Saturday afternoon – the Scouts certainly burnt off some energy !
The Scouts had a brilliant time sailing around the floating harbour with the Avon Scouts Sailing Section. It was a chilly but cracking experience.
