The Beavers were excited to receive their visitor Maureen this week, along with her guide dog "AJ". She took time to explain what a guide dog was, what breeds are used and all about the working life of a guide dog.
The Beavers then separated into pairs and took on some tasks learning to see what it was like to be blind. They played with a rugby ball with a bell, completed an obstacle course with guide canes and blindfolds, used a cup with a fill sensor, experimented with braille letter sheets, braille dice, writing with lined stencil and braille dominoes.
Finally, AJ did some fetching of a squeaky toy and brought it back after 3 toots on a whistle.
What a great night and a brilliant way to learn about blindness and coping with disabilities.
