The Scouts visited the Siri Guru Singh Sabha Gurdwara in St George to learn about the Sikh Religion and to eat some wonderful curry. Big thanks to Kam Singh and everyone at the temple who made us feel very welcome.
A huge thankyou to the scouting families that joined us on The Downs on St George’s day. All of the scouts, cubs and beavers renewed their promise and then spent time litter picking.
A big thanks to Jai and his team at the Bristol City Centre Warhammer store for running a brilliant session with the Scouts.
Freezing temperatures didn’t stop the local residents of Stoke Bishop and Sneyd Park coming out in full force on Saturday 10 December to buy their Christmas trees. We sold out! The Scouts had a wonderful time camping at Woodhouse after a two year hiatus. There was lots to do but also lots of ‘chillaxing’ and even the rain didn’t dampen the Scouts’ spirits, they were brilliant. Big thanks to all our Scout Leaders, Occasional Helpers and parent helpers for making it all possible.
At the 43rd Bristol Scouts AGM this week, District Commisioner Chris Gavriel awarded our outgoing Scout Leader with the Chief Scout’s Commendation for Good Service. Congratulations Steve – a well deserved award that reflects all of the work and effort you have put into the group over the past 8 years!
The Scouts have had a brilliant time caving and sailing over the last few weeks made possible by Carey Shaw our wonderful caving instructor and Fenella, Paul, Alan and the team at the ASCSS, big thanks to all.
The Scouts spent a day hiking around the Four Falls near Ystradfellte in the Brecon Beacons. There were some tired legs at the end but it was a brilliant day.
The Cubs, Scouts and a couple of Beavers had a wonderful day out at Longleat organised by our wonderful District. The weather was perfect, lots of giant gobstoppers were eaten and by the end everyone was buzzing.
